A year ago at this time, the Białowieża Forest looked like something out of a fairy tale – snow covered the trees and the frost was holding on tight. The recording is a time-lapse video taken by a camera mounted at one of our weather stations in January 2024.

Today? Winter seems to have forgotten its existence… Is this a temporary anomaly or a sign of long-term climate change?

We are looking for answers with the help of weather stations as part of the ForBioSensing project! They have been recording key data (for over 6 years): air and soil temperature, humidity, precipitation, and even wind speed. Thanks to them, we can analyze weather trends and better understand what is happening in the Białowieża Forest.
